Shilpa Shetty wedding to Raj Kundra

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, best known for her part in the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother, got married in an extravagant ceremony in India today to Raj Kundra, a millionaire divorcee for which she has tackled some criticism.
I still remember seeing Shilpa Shetty in Big Brother walking around with facial bleach (attractive) however it was soon after she was crowned the winner of the show that Shetty and Kundra met in London. I wonder if he watched the show, hummm.
At the wedding however she was looking hot in a red sari, diamonds and emeralds as she got married with British Asian businessman Raj Kundra in Khandala, near Mumbai. They walked around a holy fire in a traditional Hindu ritual that signifies the bond of marriage.
Friends, family and showbusiness colleagues attended the service and celebrations lasted the whole night, her father who discovered he was ill with malaria just two days before the ceremony still managed to make the celebrations.
Raj looked equally as good wearing a traditional maroon sherwani with golden embroidery and a turban with his face veiled by a sehra (string of pearls).
In the words of Michael Jackson (God rest his soul) “This is it!” Shetty wrote on her blog a few hours before the ceremony took place, she also described how her life had ‘been turned upside down, inside out in the past week as the marriage is nearing.’
Lets hope that Shilpa doesn’t wake up one day only to find that Raj has turned into an apple; if you don’t get it watch “Darna Mana Hai”, in fact don’t watch it just read the plot on Wikipedia!
The 34-year-old was clad in a red sari and diamonds and emeralds as she exchanged vows with London-based businessman Raj Kundra in a close-knit family wedding in Khandala, a hill resort near Mumbai.

Friends, family and showbusiness colleagues attended the Hindu service and all-night celebrations, including her father, who discovered he was ill with two types of malaria just two days before the ceremony.
The groom wore a maroon sherwani with golden embroidery and a turban with his face veiled by a sehra (string of pearls). He arrived at the ceremony in a two-horse chariot.
‘Everything went very well. All parents want their children to get married happily and that goes the same for Shilpa’s parents as well. They are very happy,’ said Kiran Bawa, Shilpa’s friend and business partner, after the wedding.

‘Raj and Shilpa both were very nervous before the marriage but now they are happy. We are going straight to Raj’s house in Mumbai,’ she added.
Sunday’s wedding was the climax of the two-day festivities that included a sangeet ceremony on the Saturday night.
The Indian actress became famous outside of her home country when she won the reality TV show in 2007 after being subjected to allegedly racial comments from fellow contestant Jade Goody.

The star has not broken through into major film roles, but she has remained one of Bollywood’s most talked-about and photographed figures.
‘This is it!’ she wrote on her blog early Sunday, describing how her life had ‘been turned upside down, inside out in the past week as the marriage is nearing.’
‘All is in order, friends and family have got together,’ she said, adding that she looked forward to meeting fans under her new name ‘Shilpa Shetty Kundra’.
With her acting career stuck in slow gear, the actress has turned entrepreneur — launching perfume brands, filming yoga videos and investing in restaurants and health spas.
But she told the Times of India in an interview on Sunday that she now has domestic ambitions too.

‘This is my dream wedding. We plan to shuttle between Mumbai and London after marriage. I shall strive to be as successful at home as I am outside. I want to excel as a homemaker,’ she said.
She also tackled criticism that she was marrying a millionaire divorcee.
‘Let’s be positive. Raj is experienced and hopefully won’t make the same mistakes again,’ she said, adding that ‘we are used to a certain lifestyle and it’s practical to choose a spouse who can at least match those luxuries, if not more.’
‘There’s nothing wrong in looking forward to a comfortable life. But money isn’t everything. Raj and I connect on a different level,’ she said.
